Yoga makes life worth living: Ramdev

Swami Ramdev recently explained the benefits of Yoga in an interview with Saaz Aur Awaaz Radio. He said that Yoga is a complete science in itself. It gives you physical or health benefits, takes care of your mental balance, helps reaching you to your inner peace.
It goes a long way in creating a balance in your family and professional life by increasing your productivity, and positivity. Yoga brings rhythm or discipline in personal, social as well as professional life. And it makes your life worth living!Yoga also has myriad spiritual benefits as it takes a person beyond his mind and body. Practice of Yoga makes a human being aware about himself. It is a path to self knowledge or what we understand as self realization.
"It is like this - if you eat sugar you will experience the sweetness and if you eat something bitter you will taste the bitterness in mouth. Similarly if you practice Yoga then you will reach your state of self knowledge," said Ramdev. In the preceding part of the interview, on being asked why he uses TV and radio media to spread the knowledge of Yoga, Swami replied, "You see my main reason for doing this is because I cannot see anyone's sorrow; I cannot bear to see tears in anyone's eyes. In spite of taking medication they still suffer.
It is just like if anyone is suffering from pain in your family you cannot bear it."He went on to describe how after taking Sanyaas, the world has become his family now. "So I wish to see every person in this world free from disease, pain and suffering. Yoga has the power to cure all kinds of diseased conditions and since God has made me an instrument to spread this wonderful knowledge I wish to see that every human being on this earth is free from suffering."
Talking about the difference between Indian and American Yoga forms, Swami Ramdev said," First of all I would say that there is nothing like my Yoga or someone else's Yoga. Yoga is a part of Indian tradition, it is an ancient wisdom taken from our scriptures.
We are only presenting it in various ways so that it reaches people."He explained that in the West Yoga is presented like a physical exercise. "I too accept that Yoga is done at physical level but it is a complete science in itself. It generally teaches 5 to 10 percent of meditation or Pranayam and 90 percent of physical exercises or Asanas."
That's why people were getting some relief with these physical asanas etc. but nobody got cured from Asthma or Arthritis or Hypertension or Diabetes with this western approach of Yoga. "So I have included 90 percent of Pranayam (breathing exercises) and meditation and 10% of Asanas (postures) in my teaching. So I see people being cured of these ailments when they come to my Yoga Camps.," Swami Ramdev ended the discourse
